Every delicious cake deserves to be covered in equally delicious frosting! Whether you like a super sweet buttercream or a tangy, creamy cream cheese frosting, we’ve got you covered.

Types of Frosting at Ally & Eloise Bakeshop

We have 3 main types of frosting that we use at Ally & Eloise - Swiss Meringue Buttercream, American Buttercream, and Cream Cheese frosting! They are pretty different from each other, but one thing’s for sure - they’re all super tasty! Keep reading to learn the difference between each type of frosting and what we use them for at our bakery.

Swiss Meringue Buttercream

Swiss Meringue buttercream is our go-to frosting at Ally & Eloise. It’s very buttery and loaded down with vanilla flavor. If you don’t like super sweet frosting, this is the buttercream for you! It has a light, almost-whipped texture that melts in your mouth.

Swiss Meringue holds its texture really well, so we typically use it to decorate cakes for weddings and other events. Flavor-wise, it is a delicious addition to all of our cakes here at Ally & Eloise!

American Buttercream

American buttercream is probably the frosting that you think of when you think about a typical cake frosting. It’s heavy on the powdered sugar, making it thick, sweet, and super tasty.

We offer American buttercream in chocolate or vanilla flavor. It’s absolutely delicious on a chocolate cake, vanilla cake, our Ya Ya’s pound cake, or really any cake on our menu. If you’re looking for a classic birthday cake flavor, this frosting is the one for you!

Cream Cheese Frosting

Our cream cheese frosting is made with cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and a little vanilla and has a sweet, tangy flavor (thanks to the cream cheese!). This frosting isn’t quite as “sturdy” as our buttercreams, so we typically don’t decorate with it, but it makes a delicious filling.

At Ally & Eloise, we love pairing our cream cheese frosting with our carrot cake, coconut cake, hummingbird cake, and sometimes our red velvet cake! It also tastes so good on our strawberry cake!

We’re a Fondant-Free Bakery!

You probably noticed we didn’t include fondant on the list, and that’s because we’re a fondant-free bakery! We decorate all our cakes with buttercream, making each bite extra delicious!
